-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From the KTFC board: "The picture is a bit clearer now,as we came out of the away end at Rockingham Road going back to the cars we were passed by about 15-20 wannaby "top" boys (boys being apt) who could have kicked of any time they wanted to.Obviously they did not because the numbers were even,so they carried on up the side of your terraced side and attacked two Rangers fans one was struck from BEHIND by a metal object both knocked to the floor and savagly kicked, one also had what he thought was a dart thrown at him. Both these men are middle aged one even wearing a tie having come straight from work. The numbers involved noting that these lads had been met by the 10 in the ground that came towards us for a fight on the final whistle were about 30 on to 2.What a nice place Kettering is.The only thing to come out of a shit trip to a shit ground with shit supporters living in the 80,s is that in the first half kettering local youths were chucking eggs into what they thought was the away end but because of the lack of segragation only hit their own fans if it was not for the violence meated out later it would have been funny. Both men also said that plenty of 'proper' Kettering fans walked passed and did nothing to help,I think you can say the right team went through"
Beating up scarfers 30 on 2 with weapons? Is this how good reps are made?

Tuesday 5th October 2004 Kettering Town 0 Stafford Rangers 1 FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Replay at Rockingham Road
Stafford Rangers produced a battling performance at Kettering Town to win last night’s FA Cup Second Qualifying Round replay with a late goal scored by Robert Heath. And their reward is a trip to another Conference North side Runcorn FC Halton in the next round.
Phil Robinson named an unchanged starting line-up and his side were forced to withstand plenty of pressure from Kettering. Rangers ’keeper James Dormand made a fine stop to block a close-range effort from substitute Chris Difante and, just before the interval, Heath kept Stafford on level terms with a goal-line clearance to keep out a header from Darren Lynch.
Watched by a crowd of 904, Kettering continued to put Stafford under pressure after the restart but a resilient defensive performance, with Craig McAughtrie and skipper Wayne Daniel in outstanding form, kept out the Poppies.
In the last 20 minutes, Stafford started to look for a goal themselves and Mark Danks saw a dipping shot tipped over by home’ keeper Steve Corry. However, young Dormand made three outstanding saves at the other end to deny Rob Gould (twice) and Liam Folds.
But with the tie heading for extra time, Jamie Phoenix replaced Danks on 83 minutes and within a minute, the former Nantwich forward, making his first appearance of the season, fed Heath who drove past Corry from 15 yards out to score the winner.
Player-manager Phil Robinson, speaking after the final whistle, said: “We had to battle very hard in the first half and had to soak up a lot of pressure. But in the second half we got more into the game and I am delighted to have got through.”
Stafford return to league action on Saturday when Vauxhall Motors visit Marston Road, kick-off 3pm.
Kettering Town: Corry, Matthews, McCafferty, Solkhon, Gould, McIllwain, Burgess, Folds, Lynch, Roberts, French. Subs: Diuk, Kearns (for Folds, 86), Lazarus, Difante (for Roberts, 38), Morley.
Stafford Rangers: Dormand, Dodd, Beale, McAughtrie, Daniel, Lovatt, Downes, Heath, Danks, Wilding, Gibson. Subs: Grayson (for Wilding, 61), Campbell, Edwards, Phoenix (for Danks, 83), Lindley.
Saturday 2nd October 2004 Stafford Rangers 2 Kettering Town 2 FA Cup Second Qualifying Round at Marston Road
Stafford Rangers, having fallen behind to an early goal, found themselves ahead midway through the second half. As the game moved into stoppage time Rangers looked to have secured victory but with almost the last kick of the game Kettering's leading scorer Darren Lynch headed home a corner to force a replay.
Inside the first minute Drew Roberts had a great chance but missed his kick in front of goal and the ball was scrambled clear. Mark Danks, on his home debut, hit a 20 yards snap shot that lifted just over the Poppies crossbar and then a dangerous Robin Gibson low cross into the Kettering goalmouth was sliced inches over his own crossbar by Martin Matthews. From the corner Kettering broke away and Daniel French was unlucky to see his shot come back off the base of the Stafford upright.
With this end to end action, the inevitable goal came on 19 minutes when the visitors took the lead through FRENCH. He found space on the left side of the Rangers area to receive a square pass from Ollie Burgess and skilfully curled a shot inside the far right post. Seven minutes later Stafford levelled when ROBIN GIBSON exchanged passes with Robert Heath to split the Poppies defence and fire home across Steve Corry from 15 yards.
The first period of the second half belonged to Rangers with Gibson, Heath and Danks all going close. This pressure eventually told on 67 minutes when Craig Lovatt threaded a pass through a crowded area for DANKS to lash home from 8 yards.
Kettering strove for the equaliser and Stafford were forced onto the defensive. Roberts brought out a fine save from James Dormand before Burgess struck an upright with a fierce 25 yards volley in the 91st minute. The ball was cleared for a corner from which LYNCH headed in at the far post.
STAFFORD RANGERS: James Dormand, Alan Dodd, Richard Beale, Craig McAughtrie, Wayne Daniel (capt), Craig Lovatt, Lee Downes, Robert Heath, Mark Danks, Craig Wilding, Robin Gibson. Subs: Neil Grayson, Nicky Campbell, Danny Edwards, Jamie Phoenix, James Lindley.

Were these people in the ground beforehand then?
Situtations like this have happened on a few occasions over the last few seasons, surely it's time to do something about them.

As an add on to all this, The Britt. Road "Choir" Chanting "You're going home in a Kettering Ambulance" ten minutes before the final whistle also needs to be consigned to the archives.
Shame on YOU for encouraging what went on afterwards.

I went straight in to the social club afterwards so missed any of the above - totally abhore what allegedly went on.
Should not happen, in any walk of life, whether connected to football or not.
Those who alledgedly walked by need to think it could have been their loved ones on the floor.
The other thing I totally abhore is bricks being thrown windows and nearly hitting people full on in the side of the head. I know people from Kettering have also apparently been responsible for stones through a coach (?Redditch) but it should not happen.
Yes, I am gutted we lost but (and I make no apologies for this) IT IS A GAME (ok - business as well). People really do need to put life and football into perspective sometimes. We may all love football but if push came to shove we could live without it if we had to.
I echo JCs comments - there were several hundred there last night - it's a shame a minority have to spoil it. It is sad to think that's what you will remember the night for - I hope you realise the majority of Poppies are not like that.
Good luck in the next round - and have a good game
End of my comments for what they're worth
